ABOUT ME

I am a Research Fellow at the University of Milano - Bicocca, Italy, focusing on the impact of the land use on pollinators, flower resources and pollination, within the ZooPlantLab, a mutisciplinary group of scientists of the Department of Biotechnology and Biosciences.

Since 2012, I have been teaching (or took part) University courses and practice activities, and I held a number of seminars and popularization talks. Since 2019 I am lecturer in the course of Biogeography. I also interacted with  students during the supervision of several theses. Since 2019, I have been nominated “Cultore della Materia” (Subject Expert and Teaching Assistant) both in Zoology and in Biology of Animal Interactions by the University of Milano - Bicocca.

At the moment, my main research interests are centred on mutualsitic interactions with a focus on conservation, especially plant - pollinator interactions and pollination ecology, involving advanced DNA-based identification techniques, network analyses and statistical modelling. My main efforts are devoted to field manipulation of complex multi-species mutualistic networks for studying the effects of biodiversity loss on ecosystem functioning.

I am also investigating the pollination ecology and genetic structure of rare endemic plants of the Alps. I am focusing on the characterization of habitat requirements and the distribution of rare bumblebees. Taxonomy and faunistics of Hymenoptera (Apoidea) and identification of European pollinating Diptera are also part of my entomological interests.

I am Subject Editor (= Handling Editor) of the Biodiversity Data Journal and I have been Guest Editor of the journal Diversity.

I obtained a PhD degree in Czech Republic and had traineeships in Spain, England, Norway and Italy. I attened to several international conferences.

In 2021 I was awarded with the "Premio Giovani Talenti" for research outputs by the University of Milano - Bicocca with the patronage of the prestigious Accademia dei Lincei.
